Healing Textiles sells something most shops have to explain before they can sell it. We built a Shopify store that tells the story of Ayurvastra and turns it into sales, part of our web design service.
Solution
A calm store built around an ancient craft
Healing Textiles is founder Ellie Walker’s brand. She visited the weaving family in India and came back rooted in Ayurvastra: cotton dyed in plant medicine, each colour tied to a specific herb. We designed and built the whole store on Shopify, from the logo and sitemap to the product catalogue, the education pages and the checkout.
The pieces are woven to order by a collective, so the usual buy-now model did not fit. We set up a made-to-order flow with Shopify backorders, letting customers pay upfront to reserve a piece that is then made for them. On the yoga rugs, a jump-link under the colour choice drops the visitor to the story of the herb behind that dye. It rewards curiosity instead of hiding it. The build carries our conversion thinking too, keeping the path to purchase clear without rushing the buyer.

Details that set it apart
Pay upfront, woven for you
Each piece is woven to order, so a passive waitlist would not do. Shopify backorders let customers pay in full to reserve a piece, and Ellie orders it in from the weaving collective in India.
Herb story on every rug
Under the colour selector on each yoga rug, a jump-link drops the visitor straight to the herb and healing tradition behind that dye. A product choice becomes a moment of learning.
Logo and look from scratch
A custom mandala logo on the Atlantic theme, with Libre Baskerville headings, Montserrat body text and a calm palette of navy, cream and warm earth tones.
Ayurvastra explained
An FAQ page and a long-form article explain what Ayurvastra is, who makes it and how the herbal dyeing and handloom process works. The story does the selling.
Shipping and reviews sorted
A UK-only checkout with a clear shipping policy, international buyers pointed to get in touch, and Judge.me kept so the existing five-star reviews carried across.
Search set up from day one
Google Analytics, Search Console and a submitted sitemap from launch, plus branded Google Workspace email, so the store was ready to be found and trusted.

Delivery
Live in time for the launch
Notus designed and built the Healing Textiles Shopify store from the ground up, giving an Ayurvastra textile brand a home that explains the craft, respects the makers and lets customers reserve pieces made to order. The site went live at healingtextiles.com on 14 April 2026, ready for Ellie’s launch pop-up shop in Totnes, and began picking up organic visibility from a standing start soon after. As Ellie put it, it was indeed a pleasure working with you.
